Former Leeds United star Jermaine Beckford has highlighted traits the Whites have shown on their recent run that will give them hope of pulling off a shock against Man City.
Leeds have gone on a very good run in recent matches. Following on from some poor form under Marcelo Bielsa, new boss Jesse Marsch has managed to turn things around.
The Whites have not last any of their last five games. In fact, they have won three of those five, against Norwich City, Wolves and Watford.
The Elland Road outfit are still in and around the drop zone, though. They currently sit 16th in the league, five points above Everton in 18th.
The Whites’ run from now until the end of the season is not an easy one either. Their next three games see them take on leaders Manchester City, followed by Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, following a good run of results, former Leeds star Beckford is hopeful of a positive result in the upcoming game against City.
“It’s brilliant [Leeds’ run] going into all of those games,” he told Premier League Productions.
Indeed, the Whites have hit form at a good period of the season.
Beckford feels the run they are on will give them confidence going into the big game next up.
“It’s five games unbeaten now. A couple of clean sheets back-to-back going into a home game. Elland Road is a really tricky place to go. It’s really intimidating for the opposition as well,” he said.
Beckford feels Leeds trait can unsettle City
Beckford was realistic about the challenge of facing an in-form Manchester City side. However, he also hinted that a Leeds trait could make it tough for the Cityzens at the weekend.
“Manchester City are arguably one of the two or three best teams in the world at the moment but they still have to go there and play and win,” he added.
“They know they’re going to come up against a Leeds United team that’s going to get right in their faces.”
A Leeds victory would have big ramifications at both ends of the table.
