Following a top performance from the bench last game, the predicted Tottenham team to face Liverpool could see Dejan Kulusevski return.
Spurs’ top-four hopes took a hit a few games back, as they were beaten 1-0 by mid-table Brighton. Tottenham followed that game up with a 0-0 draw away at Brentford.They were back at their rampant best last time out, though. Antonio Conte’s side beat Leicester City 3-1, to set up their charge for the top four once again.
Continuing that run will be important, but a few tough games will not make it easy.
Conte’s side will be without a few important assets for the big one against Liverpool next up. Matt Doherty is out for the season, and Sergio Reguilon “is not available” and Conte “is not sure” if he will be back this season, as per his pre-match press conference.
Last time out – Tottenham 3-1 Leicester
Ever-present goalkeeper Hugo Lloris started in net. The three centre-backs ahead of him were Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies – who was booked.
Emerson Royal and Ryan Sessegnon played in the wide roles, in place of Doherty and Reguilon.
Between them was the usual midfield pairing of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
There was a change in the front three from the previous game. Kulusevski made way for Lucas Moura, who played alongside goal-scorers Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son. Kulusevski came on off the bench and provided two assists.
Predicted Tottenham team against Liverpool
Given the importance of the fixture, and it being against one of the top teams in the league, Conte will want to go as strong as possible.
Lloris will no doubt stay in net. The back three is likely to remain as Romero, Dier and Davies, and they will be despreate to keep Liverpool’s potent attack at bay.
The lack of options at wing-back means Emerson and Sessegnon should start. Between them, Bentancur and Hojbjerg are likely to play.
Following two assists last time out, Kulusevski will likely return to the fold. Kane and Son, after three goals between them against Leicester, will remain, and want to keep up that form in front of goal.
